Judith Heilbronn-Crown - ArtistI am an artist who loves to work in various media. I mostly work in coloured pencil at the moment, but I also work in oils and acrylics. When I am on holiday I sketch and take photos, and then I finish the pictures when I get home. I usually take a few hundred photos when I am on holiday, so after I have finished working from my "on location" drawings, there will be so many ideas to choose from.... I also love flowers - I like to work with flowers in vases, doing flower portraits before the flowers change. I grow wild poppies and wild cyclamen in flower pots and bring them in to my "studio" to paint. I paint and draw in the evenings using the 'visitors' bedroom' as my studio. I have tables set up at the side of the room, one very small with this computer which has all my photos on it for reference, and the other is my work surface. Anglepoise lamps give me extra light to work by. I use a mixture of coloured pencils including Faber-Castell Albert Durer, Derwent watercolour and Caran d'Ache Supracolour. I try to use the most colourfast ones, which means that not all reds, pinks and purples are usable. I had one of my favourite pictures fade when it wasn't even on a South-facing wall, so I have learnt the hard way about pinks! Pencils are reasonably portable, clean, and the pictures take up very little space. As they are time consuming, most of my pictures are only about A4 in size. I studied Art to A.level at school, so am mostly self-taught. I can be contacted via my e.mail judycrown@fastmail.co.uk . Most of the pictures are available for purchase.... I am a member of the UKCPS, the United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society, and many of my pictures have been exhibited in their exhibitions. To visit this website and see my pictures, and others by different Coloured Pencil artists, visit www.ukcps.co.uk You can go to online exhibitions, or go to individual members' galleries. It is a great group of people and we "chat" on a Yahoo Forum. For anyone visiting the NEC for the Art and Craft Supplies show in November, there will be a stand with people from the UKCPS to show you what coloured pencils can do..... The main Autumn exhibition each year in September takes place in a different gallery each year, in different part of the country. The June exhibition is a smaller one held at the Derwent Museum in the Lake District. The UKCPS is open to complete beginners and full time professionals..... This site is still under construction, so there will be more pictures added........... I can't do anything about the adverts that will crop up at the side of the site, but I hope they will not be bothersome!
